Cannes
Everyone knows Cannes is home to a myriad of important events like the Cannes Film Festival, Les Bal des Fous and Les Plages Electronique for music lovers, MIPIM for global real estate developers, investors and innovators, and various other creative, arts, and fashion related celebrations.
Every year we, too, try to be in the South of France for the annual Cannes Yacht Festival. This year, it will be held on 8-13 September.
But with hundreds and thousands of tourists descending on this crescent strip of the French Riviera, how does one find good, non-touristy places to eat?
Of course the super wealthy can dine anywhere. They may even take a helicopter to Antibes, Provence or St. Tropez. But what about everyone else?
With that in mind, we thought it would be a great idea to share a list of our favorite eats while or in between excitedly strolling along Boulevard de la Croisette.
Breakfast
If your hotel offers breakfast (petit dejeuner or dejuener - meaning breakfast or brunch) and you're the type of person who is used to having a big first meal, we strongly suggest taking the buffet. Europeans in general are not as big on breakfast as, let's say, Americans are. A strong cup of coffee or tea paired with some pastry is enough for most. Not many restaurants open early for breakfast. Most also will simply offer a selection of pastries and beverages. So if you're craving sausages, bacon, and eggs, etc., the hotel's breakfast buffet is your best bet.
But if fresh produce, artisanal cheeses, various meats and fresh flowers are what you are craving, check out Marché Forville.

Lunch
There are numerous places to go for lunch. But if you haven't been to Cannes and you're expecting cafes, boulangeries, patisseries, brasseries and bistros like Le Merais in Paris, then you'd probably be surprised to see an abundance of restaurants serving pizza. Traditional french food is a lot more difficult to find. Here are a handful of the ones we've liked for the straightforward menu and the revolving daily specials. And of course, pizza, too!

A great way to prepare dinner in Cannes is to start with cocktails at Marea, the rooftop bar and restaurant at Hilton Canopy.
