Working from Munich with a foundation in mechanical engineering, Ruben Benjamin trades the traditional painter’s easel for a tactile, almost architectural encounter with raw matter. His palette is nature itself—crushed stone, dry mineral pigments, and dense industrial binders forced across the surface by hand and forged under heavy pressure.

The result are surfaces that feel excavated rather than illustrated. Deeply textured fissures, ridges, and mineral strata capture and manipulate light. Under natural illumination, shadows shift as the sun and moon traverse their daily journey. Always changing in hue, depth, warmth, and tone–with time of day, with the seasons–the message is always evolving. The impact is striking. Invoking the ethereal, the discovery process evokes moods that are at once intimate and universal. Therein lies the art.
